Circuit asking for an ethics investigation of Judge Beryl Howell over the November gala speech. The letter is on DocumentCloud. It is a judicial-misconduct complaint under the judicial-conduct rules. It is not a House resolution. No House impeachment articles against Howell were found as of 2026-08-26. Do not write IMPEACHED.
Stefanik wrote that Howell “suggested reelecting President Trump will lead to fascism in America” and that the speech consisted of “partisan statements, election interference, and improper extrajudicial statements while criminal cases are pending.” Those are Stefanik’s characterizations. The speech quotes themselves are on the Politico card. American Spectator later published “Time to Impeach D.C. Judge Beryl Howell?” — a column, not a House filing.
Bloomberg Law and the ABA Journal later reported that Chief Judge Jerome A. Holmes of the Tenth Circuit dismissed a complaint whose facts match Stefanik’s, holding the remarks “do not reasonably appear to reflect adversely on impartiality, nor could they lead to disqualification.” That dismissal is reported, not reproduced here as a retrieved court PDF. A dismissal is a disposition of a complaint. It is not a finding that the speech never happened.
